The Legacy of
Michael Douglas Jones
When Michael toured throughout Scandinavia, he discovered the poetry of Swedish Nobel Laureate Tomas Tranströmer. With Tranströmer’s blessing, he began to create a collaborative music piece based on several of his poems. That piece, drömseminarium, became the reason that Michael created Companion Star: A Living Laboratory for the Creative Process.
Companion Star was a company committed to developing new musical works both collaboratively and creatively. And along with other pieces that they developed, including the award winning Under Milkwood, Companion Star established a track record of creative development. Sadly, this was cut short by Michael’s death just as drömseminarium was focusing on its premier.
Foundry Arts was started to continue and expand on Michael’s work and the legacy. The creative, challenging work Michael supported, and the means by which these pieces were developed which he established, live on in our mission and in the Michael Douglas Jones Writers’ Room and Lab.
